In response to the sharp increase in the number of cats, the Ministry of Agriculture recently announced an amendment to the draft "Designating Dogs as Pets that Should be Registered", clarifying that from August 1, 2025, domestic cats also need to be registered as pets. If they are not registered in accordance with the law, The fines range from NT$3,000 to NT$15,000, and there is a one-year buffer period between now and the official implementation next year.
