Night Lane Tugong

The custom of "walking the earth at night" originated from the late Qing Dynasty. Folklore believes that in order to show respect for Tu Tu Gong, they will tour the territory for Tu Tu Gong on the Lantern Festival, and light firecrackers and throw them to Tu Tu Gong's shrine, which can bring wealth; and residents are convinced that as long as the firecrackers are set off, The more you get, the more prosperous your wealth will be. This custom continues to this day.

There are tugong activities at every corner of Shezi Island, and the tugong method of riding around the island in chairs and sedan chairs is still maintained.

A Tubo style shirtless, wearing shorts and a bamboo hat
Such a wonderful outfit is so cute! 😍

I woke up early in the morning, scrolled through Facebook, and discovered that Taipei had such interesting activities on the Lantern Festival. After attending to the guests, feeding Ben, and looking at the house, I was ready to go to this wonderful folk celebration.

The God of Wealth comes through the fog
Symbolizing the good omen ushered in when the clouds and mist are cleared away
Wish you all have a good year and make a lot of money!

This custom can be traced back to the folk activities of the "Fire" God of Wealth of the ancient Han people. Since "Fire" symbolizes "living", it is a folk custom for people to pray to the God of Wealth for wealth.

Being bombarded hundreds of times a day
Father-in-law can't sleep well at all
Watching it makes him feel so tired🥹

Folks also worship the God of Wealth as the God of Wealth, so there is a custom like blasting Han Danye.

In addition to the certain strong smell of firecrackers!
There will be a lot of little kids in new clothes wandering around on the road
Only then will you have those New Year’s Eve feelings from your childhood!
It's been a long time since I've felt this way
It’s really a very nostalgic New Year flavor! !

I originally thought it was on the Neihu side when I read the news, but an enthusiastic friend sent me a private message and told me that they have it on Shezi Island every year and asked me to go there to participate.

What a cute car!
Because the alleys here are very small
Only this type of super small car can get in easily.

I really wanted to take a ride there by myself to participate in this very authentic Taiwanese festival, but I kept being stopped, saying that their control over there was exaggerated and I couldn't get in by car at all. They asked me to take a ride to the nearby MRT. He came to pick me up again.

Chen Banxian’s name is on it! ! 🤣

Think about it, instead of running around like a headless fly by yourself, of course it is better to let the locals lead you. The various visiting experiences are definitely the most authentic!

You just need to participate seriously and discover with your heart
In fact, Taiwan’s folk activities
There are still very cute places!

With local people leading the play, of course the fun level will be greatly enhanced! All I can say is that it’s great to have friends! Everyone is really enthusiastic!

The most meaningful thing about the whole event is that
In addition to the various snacks, biscuits and drinks placed at the door of every house
So that no one who participates will go hungry
Some will also give away pencils, erasers, school bags and other stationery supplies.
Let parents and children have fun together and feel warm at the same time🥹

Speaking of which, this is really the first time in my life that I have entered Shezi Island! Looking at the completely different street scene, the bustling crowds, and the closeness of people greeting each other, although they are also in Taipei, they are completely different from Taipei. The noisy and philistine feeling is completely like a paradise, which makes people yearn for it. , living here forever seems to be a good choice.

The riverside scenery on Shezi Island is really charming
The point is, no one will bother you.
It really makes people like it! ! !

I believe that many Taipei people, although they live in Taipei, have never been to this place!

It’s really interesting that this breakfast restaurant also delivers burgers! !
It’s just that the queue is comparable to that of department stores in the past.
There are so many people queuing up to attend the anniversary celebration!

I sincerely recommend that if you have nothing to do, you can take the time to visit Shezi Island.

The small streets are really crowded with people
I was really surprised all the way and said it was so interesting🤩

It will definitely give you many, many different feelings. The interaction between people here on Shezi Island is so close, and it will definitely allow you to regain the kind touch that you have lost for a long time!

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a small amount of fireworks
But the activity continued all day long

The custom of "working with the Tugong at night" originated from the late Qing Dynasty. Folklore believes that in order to show respect for Tudigong, people will tour the territory for Tudigong on the Lantern Festival, and light firecrackers and throw them to Tudigong's palanquin, which can bring wealth.

The roads on Shezi Island are very narrow.
Many of the street light trucks are specially selected to have small platforms.
It looks like it really has the local style that has been passed down for more than a hundred years😍

Moreover, residents firmly believe that the more firecrackers they set off, the better their fortune will be. This custom continues to this day.

Living in Taipei for too long
It’s been a really long time
I have never felt so many firecrackers!
