Type-C fast charging

With the progress of society, mobile phones are used more and more frequently. Everyone should have the experience of "very slow charging". Most of them are not familiar with the charging and discharging of electronic products and the issue of current wattage, which leads to many people buying them randomly on the road. No-name charging heads or cables charge very slowly because they use poor wire cores and do not have enough power.

Early Android phone charging cables had a large USB end at one end, and a thin and flat trapezoidal anti-fool device Micro USB at the other end; it gradually changed to USB to Type-C, and then evolved to the point where the big end is directly replaced with Type-C. -C to Type-C.

As for Apple mobile phone charging cables, they used large-end USB to 30pin in the early days, then USB to Lightning, and now Type-C to Lightning. However, the EU mandates that the specifications should be unified into Type-C to Type-C in the future.

Common mobile phone fast charging technologies on the market are simply divided into two types: PD fast charging and QC fast charging.

The most commonly heard PD fast charging at this stage was developed by the USB-IF Association [USB Implementers Forum, Inc.]; however, the fast charging technology Quick Charge (referred to as QC fast charging) has been developed for a long time. Currently, the brand with the highest market share of smartphone processors is developed by Qualcomm.

Comparison of current version and power: [PD 3.0] 10-100W; [QC 4+] 27W.

If you want fast charging, the Type-C specification is already the current trend, and because the internal core wire design is divided into various wattages, it also supports [USB Power Delivery (USB PD)].

Usually the output power must reach more than 18W (more than 9V/2A or 15V/1.2A) to be called PD.
Power (unit: W) = voltage (unit: V) x current (unit: A), for example: 15V x 1.2A = 18W.

In the past, the maximum power supply power of USB was 2.5W for USB 2.0, 4.5W for USB 3.0, and 7.5W for battery charging standard USB BC (Battery Charging) 1.2.

PD mainly uses USB (Universal Serial Bus) cables and is a USB power supply expansion standard that can supply and receive power up to 100W. Therefore, tablets, laptops and other devices that have not been supported in the past can also supply and receive power. The supported devices have greatly expanded. expand.

In terms of mobile phone fast charging, it has its own protection mechanism. Currently, the latest flagship phone has a maximum speed of 20W. That is, no matter which fast charging technology you use, no matter how high the wattage flow is, the fastest speed is 20W.

Plug-in fast charging initially accelerates the charging speed from 0% to 70%. After 70%, the current will be reduced to "trickle charging". On the one hand, it is to protect the battery, and on the other hand, it is to improve the charging speed. safety.

In the past, USB connectors needed to distinguish between Type-A on the host side and Type-B on the device side, but Type-C did not need to distinguish between the host side and the device side.

In addition, in addition to the usual B, Type-B connectors also have various shapes such as Mini-B and Micro-B. It is necessary to prepare a connector cable corresponding to the device, but Type-C is unified into one shape and one cable. The cable can support all devices with Type-C terminals.

And there is no positive or negative distinction, so there is no need to distinguish the fool-proof insertion direction, and it can also process video signals. Therefore, you only need to use the USB terminal for data transmission, power supply and reception, and video signal transmission.
